January 7th, 2011

Oh hey, it's me! I bought new glasses and was so thrilled to finally upgrade after *cough* after at least 8 years that I had to post a picture. I'll call this one "A few of my Favorite Things"- including my green scarf and amber necklace from my sister, and my new coffee mug from our gift exchange over Christmas.

Um yes, hi, my name is Melissa and I'm a foodie. What? You're not surprised! Ok good, we can move on then. One of the students loves cooking and baking sugar-free, gluten-free, and almost fat-free treats. She has shared with us her take on brownies and I am hooked! Lighter than a brownie, more like a cake, but without the overload of sugar. See the frosting on top? It is made with vegetable or fruit puree, but you would never know.

Ok I need to find more things to take pictures of besides food! This is what I LOVE having for lunch though, an Obee's Sub. The one in Venice makes the BEST subs around. They slice their deli meats and cheeses fresh. The bread is nice and soft and it doesn't consume all the good stuff. Mmm just seeing this makes me want to run out and get one. I'm all for supporting local businesses.

January 4th 2011

Not a very inspirational week, been sick. Taking Ricola reminds me of my childhood, I would sometimes get them as treats from my Nonna. I don't think it's candy though. :)

January 3rd 2011

I received this as a Christmas present. I like to thing this is my life motto. *chuckle*

January 2nd 2010

These are the essentials- My MacBook Pro, a fresh cup of coffee, a homemade pastry... and Facebook. What a way to start the day.
Well, "shell" we?

January 1st 2011!

After a lot of flying and waking up early, I stayed in for New Years. Actually, I slept till noon the next day after I made it to midnight. Needless to say, I didn't have much to take a picture of. Instead I'll share something from my past- an amber necklace. This necklace was given to me by my sister Amanda. She bought it in Madison, but it was made in Italy. If I had the right lighting, you'd see how beautiful it is with all the little flecks in the stones. I absolutely love this pendant.
